Healthwise Honored for Health Education Video Excellence in Digital Health Awards® Fall 2018 Competition

Healthwise patient education videos awarded top honors

BOISE, Idaho, Dec. 05, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Healthwise announced today that it received three Digital Health Awards for its patient education videos in the Health Information Resource Center (HIRC)’s 2018 fall competition. Twice a year, HIRC honors the best digital health resources for consumers and health care professionals.

Healthwise submitted three videos to the competition this round. Each video won an award in the Video—Web-based, Mobile category.

  • Gold Award—Healthwise® Video Grief: Coping After Stillbirth

With sensitivity and great care, this video helps support parents and families in understanding the stages of grief, the support they can expect from their care team, and ways to cope after a stillbirth.
  • Bronze Award—Healthwise® Video Car Seat Safety

Car seats can’t keep kids safe if they’re not used correctly. This video uses a fresh graphic approach to engage busy parents in learning the basics of car seat use.
  • Merit Award—Healthwise® Video Dialysis: What Is It

This is part of a suite of informative, supportive videos to explain what dialysis is, help consumers prepare to start dialysis, and provide support for day-to-day life while receiving dialysis.

“Our job is to create health education that helps clinicians connect with their patients. We do that with visuals that teach, language that’s clear, and design that conveys empathy and support,” said Christy Calhoun, Senior Vice President of Consumer Health Experience at Healthwise. “To have our core commitment to quality recognized through the Digital Health Awards is an honor we are proud to accept and celebrate.”

The winning videos are just three of more than 640 assets in the Healthwise® Video Library. The videos help people manage their health, better understand surgeries and procedures, and make healthy lifestyle changes through relatable content, written in plain language. Health education videos help engage patients in their care and help clinicians bridge cultural and health literacy gaps.

HIRC is a national clearinghouse for professionals who work in consumer health fields. It aims to recognize digital health resources and entries that are web-based, mobile, wearable devices, media publications, or social media.
