Garden Remedies Moves Closer to Adult Use Cannabis Sales in Newton

NEWTON, Mass., April 12, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Garden Remedies, Inc., Massachusetts' only cannabis company founded and led by a woman physician, confirmed its Final Certificate of Registration from the Cannabis Control Commission (CCC) for adult use sales in Newton. This registration marks one step closer for Garden Remedies (GRI) to commence adult/recreational use cannabis sales. Garden Remedies secured a Special Permit from the City of Newton last fall, and while there are still several regulatory steps to take before sales can officially begin, the company believes adult use sales will commence in late April or early May 2019.

The Garden Remedies Newton location will become the most convenient adult use cannabis dispensary for the majority of adult consumers in the Boston metro area. According to founder Dr. Karen Munkacy, a mother, physician and breast cancer survivor, the commencement of adult use sales will enable GRI to more fully realize its mission of helping as many people as possible by expanding access to safe, legal and natural cannabis products.

Garden Remedies also operates dispensaries in Melrose (for medical cannabis) and Marlborough (coming soon for both medical and adult use).

"Opening for adult use sales is a key milestone for all of us at Garden Remedies because it means we can help more people through safe, legal and natural cannabis," said Karen Munkacy, M.D., Founder, President and CEO, Garden Remedies, Inc. "Taking marijuana off the streets and safely into the hands of those who need it has long been my life's mission. We're grateful to the Newton Mayor, Ruthanne Fuller, and our community for providing the opportunity to continue this mission."

In order to reduce wait times and provide a seamless retail experience, Garden Remedies' online appointment system allows consumers to choose from immediate appointments (when available) or future time periods that best fit their schedule via GardenRemedies.com. Customers can also call Garden Remedies at 617-235-7215 to book appointments for specific timeslots for everyone's convenience and to reduce long wait times. Hours of operation will be Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Per state law, adult-use customers must show a valid, government-issued ID proving they are at least 21-years-old.

Upon opening, GRI encourages visitors to take public transportation to reduce traffic. The Newtonville commuter rail is across the street and runs from South Station to Worcester. There are also several bus routes (553, 554 and 556) with nearby stops on Washington at Harvard Street and at Court Street. Should patrons choose to ride their bike, there's a bike rack on-site, and Lime bikes available for pick-up and drop-off in participating communities. If driving is the only option, there are two reserved spots for ride share drops offs in the lot, and limited metered parking available on a first come first serve basis on Washington Street. Parking on side streets is discouraged.
