New York State Council of Health-system Pharmacists
This year’s meeting took place from May 2 to May 5 in Verona, New York. More than 350 staff and clinical pharmacists, managers, administrators, and pharmacy directors from New York State attended, many of whom are leaders in community and teaching hospitals, ambulatory-care settings, and other health-system settings. The theme, medication safety, included presentations from the Institute for Safe Medication Practices, the Emily Jerry Foundation, the New York State Board of Pharmacy, the New York State Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement, and others. This article reviews two sessions, one on the need for pharmacy technician competency and one on safety in areas that are often overlooked.
